the future is no place to place your better days.
— dave matthews

do you ever find yourself intending to get things done, then all of a sudden it's 5 years later and you still haven't done them? i've been trying to be better about living in the moment and not putting things off till "tomorrow." it's harder than it seems. i'm a big list-maker, so that helps. Ha...I just received this email....how appropriate.

Around the corner I have a friend,
In this great city that has no end,

Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,
And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face,

For life is a swift and terrible race,

He knows
I like him just as well,

As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine but we were younger then,

And now we are busy, tired men.

Tired of playing a foolish game,
Tired of trying to make a name.
'Tomorrow' I say! 'I will call on Jim
Just to show that I'm thinking of him.'
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,

And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,

'Here's a telegram sir,' 'Jim died today.'

And that's what we get and deserve in the end.

Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.    If you
love someone, tell them.

Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets.

And most importantly, stay close to your friends
and family, for they have helped
make you the person that you are today.

what's done is done

i hate it when something from the past resurfaces. ok, let me rephrase that. i hate it when something bad (hurtful, confusing, negative) from the past resurfaces. it can resurface in the form of a conversation, an email or just a passing glance. and even though i try my hardest not to give in to the temptation...i always do. but i have decided to be stronger this time. it's better for ME. life is what you make it. if you keep making the same mistakes over and over, how are you suppose to move on? i think i'm slowly going from a "grass is greener" girl to a "live for today" kind of person. make the most of every conversation/situation/journey. you never know what might happen tomorrow.

Heather and LeAnn...they made me stand in front which looks ridiculous. OH, and this picture was taken at The Bourbon Mall (restaurant) where I had the most amazing cheese sticks of my entire life....not exaggerating.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE going to Mississippi. Here are the reasons:

  • I like to see my family
  • We never really have to look "cute."
  • It's a vacation so we do a lot of sitting around and watching tv (my fav).
  • There are always babies!
  • I went here every summer (and other times, too) growing up...so lots of memories
  • We can do stuff like shoot guns, hunt, collect pecans, and "go to town"
  • I always seem to meet new and interesting people
  • Mississippi boys are ADORABLE

These are really just a few reasons. I need to go back more often....

"One day at a time - this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering."

- Ida Scott Taylor

it's christmastime, which means it's time for me to be even more emotional that i already am. does ANY one else cry after every commercial on tv? is it just me? here are some examples:

  • a homeless man is walking down a dark, rainy alley with all his worldly possessions on his back. in the background "i'll be home for christmas" is playing. he sits down on the nasty road, and you hear "..if only in my dreams." i don't remember what this commerical is for, but it is very emotional.
  • a young doctor at the hospital and on the phone with his mother. he apologizes for not being able to make it home for christmas this year. he has to work. he calls her back again while he is on his way to his apt. for the night to ask her to tell the family that he says "Merry Christmas." he walks into his apartment and HIS WHOLE FAMILY IS THERE!! isn't that nice!!!???
  • any jewelry commercial - i secretly think one of those scenarios will happen to me. you know, i will wake up and a diamond necklace will be lying on my pillow....it could happen.

there are a lot more, but they aren't really christmasy. like the ebay commerical where the little boy loses his toy boat, then 30 years later finds it on ebay. it's just too much emotion for one season, if you ask me. OH and remember the valentine's commerical where the little boy comes home and tells his mom he needs to bake a cake for his valentine, and it has to be perfect. so they are on their way to school, and the little boy gets out and his mom is still holding the cake saying, "wait, you forgot your..." and the little boy just turns around and smiles. the cake was for his mom! his valentine! tell me that isn't the cutest thing ever.

ok i will stop. you get the point. so if you happen to be around me at christmas time, don't be suprised if i break down after seeing a couple holding hands or a man buying jewelry or just see a hallmark commercial. it is a perfectly normal reaction!
